Designer cocktails are all the rage, but if you are watching your figure you might be hesitant about too much alcohol and sugary syrups.

Try our Marilyn Monroe Margarita – named for its tiny waste properties using wine rather than spirits and replacing sugar with xylitol!

Margarita recipe

  • 100 ml Leopard’s Leap Chardonnay
  • 25 ml Cinzano Bianco
  • 10 ml of lime juice
  • 25 ml apple cinnamon syrup (see recipe below)
  • Crushed ice

Mix all the ingredients in a cocktail shaker.

Serve in a Margarita glass on crushed ice and decorate with three thin apple half-moons.

To make the Apple Cinnamon syrup

  • 500 ml of boiled water
  • 1 Granny Smith apple, sliced
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 100 ml xylitol

Boil water on the stovetop and add apple slices and cinnamon sticks.

Continue to boil for 20 minutes or until the apple slices are soft.

Remove apple and cinnamon and keep aside.

Add xylitol to the water and cook for 5 minutes.

Remove from heat to cool.

Again add apples and cinnamon sticks to infuse the syrup.
