A LEOPARD ON LA MOTTE

A LEOPARD ON LA MOTTE

The Cape Leopard Trust researchers Jeannie Hayward and Anita Meyer were ecstatic yesterday when the camera on La Motte spotted its first leopard on the farm. They were pleasantly surprised, as they were not sure if this particular camera would be successful, but the photo shows otherwise. The leopard scooted by close to the camera, giving the CLT researchers an opportunity to compare its spots to other recently identified ones, and conclude that it is BM4 – a healthy adult male normally residing in the Wemmershoek/ Zachariashoek area. The leopard was photographed a mere 500m from the house sponsored by Leopard’s Leap where Jeannie and Anita currently live.
