Plankie Braai on another level
If you just want to have a casual get-together around the fire, but would prefer some more excitement to the meal than the average worsie or plankie steak, we have a wonderful repertoire of recipes for bite-sized morsels from the fire! Chef Christiaan has reimagined the plankie and came up with recipes for meaty treats and fun vegetables like you have never tasted before!
Plankie Braai Recipes
- Free-range chicken thigh crépinette with tomato chutney
- Stokbrood with whipped butter and maketaan
- Karoo lamb ribs and skaapstertjies (lamb tails).
- Wild mushroom and beetroot skewer with home-made BBQ glaze
- Blue wildebeest sausage with kataifi and muhammara
- Seared ostrich fan fillet with chevin, pumpkin seed dukkah, coriander seed and balsamic vinaigrette and of course, crisp roosterkoek
- Chakalaka canelé (this is the most charming little fire-side snack, but perhaps a little tough to pull of on a camping trip, we suggest you keep this one for when you are impressing guests at home!)
- Smokey Lemon Meringue cocktail for a grown-up dessert. (For kids, try S'mores with lemon curd! Braai a white marshmallow to your desired shade of brown and gently smudge it between two tennis biscuits generously smeared with lemon curd rather than the more traditional caramel.)
