Moroccan Spiced Mint Julep Wine Cocktail Recipe
Moroccan Spiced Mint Julep
Makes 1
Ingredients
Moroccan Spiced Simple Syrup
1 cup white sugar
1 cup water
1 piece cinnamon stick
3 whole cloves
1/2 cup crystallized ginger
Moroccan Mint Iced Tea
4 Mint Tea Bags
500ml water
Ice

120 ml mint iced tea
60 ml Klipdrift 10yr Old
60 ml Leopard’s Leap Classic Chenin Blanc
30 ml Moroccan Spiced Simple Syrup
3 - 5 leaves fresh mint (additional for garnish, if desired)

Method
Moroccan Spiced Simple Syrup
In a small saucepan, combine all simple syrup ingredients and bring to a simmer on low heat. Continue to simmer for about 10 minutes. Remove from heat. Let syrup cool. Pour syrup through a fine mesh strainer and into an airtight container; discard solids. Syrup can be refrigerated for up to 1 month. Makes about 300 ml simple syrup.
Mint Iced Tea
Bring 500 ml water to a boil in a small pan. Remove from heat and steep tea bags for 8 minutes. Fill a 1 litre jug with ice. Pour hot tea over ice and chill until ready to use in refrigerator.
Moroccan Spiced Mint Tea Julep
Place mint leaves in the bottom of an 240 ml glass. Using a muddler or the end of a wooden spoon press the mint leaves into the bottom of the glass. Add simple syrup, brandy, wine, and tea. Top with ice and optional mint garnish.
