Seven Days and Seven Ways with Shiraz

Seven Days and Seven Ways with Shiraz

Seven Days and Seven Ways with Shiraz

In August we join Shiraz South Africa’s focus on Shiraz. This popular red wine is versatile and friendly and if you can only choose one red for the rest of your life, it is probably the safest choice. National Shiraz Day is on 21 August and for the Seven Days of Shiraz celebration, we found Seven Ways with Shiraz – it was so easy, we probably could’ve done Seventy Ways!

1. Shiraz & Spice

Spice doesn’t always mean spicy. Spicy usually refers to the burn of chillies, but spice extends to all those warm and wonderful aromas and flavours such as coriander, cumin, pepper... flavours that Shiraz adores! Try this Greek recipe called Pork Afelia - pork and coriander cooked in red wine. Use Leopard’s Leap Shiraz in the pot and in your glass. The pairing can’t be better!

2. Shiraz, say Cheese!

We don’t want to believe winemakers and culinary experts when they say that the pairing of cheese and wine is more often than not, not ideal. They might be right, but who wants to give up wine and cheese? Luckily, Shiraz is there to make you smile! Just add something sweet such as our berry and fig compote (or an interesting carrot jam!) with Boerenkaas and the pairing is perfect.

3. Shiraz, Shaken or Stirred

Shiraz is an adventurous wine! Combine it with something spicy and sparkling and you have a drink that’s hot and happening… Introducing our Sassy Shiraz Wine Cocktail. Add a decadent touch of dark chocolate-coated cacao nibs and enjoy a spunky end to winter! Join us at Leopard’s Leap during August or try our recipe and mix your own cocktail at home.

4. Sip on Shiraz

Join us in the Leopard’s Leap Tasting Room during the Seven Days of Shiraz (we are closed on Mondays, so 22 – 27 August) for a complimentary Shiraz tasting and pairing. But you can also sip on your Leopard’s Leap Shiraz at home. If you're solo, Shiraz is a great partner to movies, books and puzzles. If you're throwing a party, Shiraz is the social animal you need!

5. Sizzle with Shiraz

There isn't a better red wine than Shiraz for the braai! From skilpadjies to sosaties and steak, from chops to corn or from boerewors to our sensational braaibroodjie, the versatile Leopard’s Leap Shiraz is what you need.

6. Sweet on Shiraz

If you don't want to swop your red wine for a soetetjie, shot or coffee when dessert is served, make sure it's Leopard’s Leap Shiraz in your glass. Try one of our recipes that best combine sweet and Shiraz:

Raspberry and dark chocolate clafoutis.

Quick and easy chocolate tart.

Carrot jam for your cheese plate.

7. Save with Shiraz

Join us at Leopard’s Leap Family Vineyards or visit leopardsleap.co.za during August and pay 10% less when you buy 6 bottles of our 2022 Leopard’s Leap Shiraz!
