AFRIKAANS WRITERS ENJOYING LEOPARD’S LEAP

Afrikaans literature is having a moment: Earlier today it was reported that Byleveld: Dossier van ’n Baasspeurder by Hanlie Retief has become the first SA book to sell over 27000 copies in two weeks. Inspector Piet Byleveld, of whom the book was written, was also a guest and speaker at the recent Open Book festival, of which we were a main sponsor.

At the festival, authors and guests enjoyed Leopard's Leap wine, where it was sold at our wine bar at the Fugard theatre. Above is another Afrikaans author, Kerneels Breytenbach, at the launch of his new novel, Piekniek by Hangklip, enjoying Leopard's Leap wine while in conversation with Michiel Heyns.
